Political Correctness is Incorrect.

Posted by LaForge May. 21, 2009 @ 8:02 PM EDT

If you are not from Africa, if you were not born in Africa, then you are not an African American. I don't give a shit if your ancient ancestors were from Africa, or even your father.

The term "African American" is only applied to black people, which implies that black people only come from Africa. They come from every other fucking country on the planet as well, thanks to modern travel innovations.

If you go back far enough, every last human being on Earth has an ancestor from Africa, because the earliest human being (supposedly the first) was born in Africa.

If people who want to be politically correct want the word "correct" to mean anything in that phrase, they should list every fucking country that a person's ancestors were born in. All the way back to the beginning of humans.

Recently a white man who was born in Africa and immigrated to the U.S. was kicked out of college in his first year because when asked about his heritage, he correctly called himself African American. His black friends in class didn't mind, it was the white professor, being a politically correct asshole, complained to the dean and had him expelled. This is according to a story on CNN.

By calling someone African American, you're calling them out on their race more than someone who just calls that person A FUCKING PERSON. Give it a rest.

EDIT:

More information on the man who was expelled from college:

He was born in Africa, came to the U.S. in 1984 to attend New York University. Became a naturalized citizen in 1990. Has been attending NYU since his immigration, until he was expelled in 2006 for "Conduct unbecoming of a student." In other words, not being politically correct.

The first complaint was from a white girl in his class, made directly to the dean, saying "He's white, he can't be an African American." The immigrant was forced to undergo a psychiatric test upon further complaints from class-mates, and was found to be completely fit for continuing his classes. However, soon thereafter he was expelled. He has levied a lawsuit against NYU, and it is pending.

Thanks to political correctness, a promising doctor has been denied his chance to practice.

All you CoF fans are in for a surprise. =D

Posted by LaForge May. 4, 2009 @ 10:32 PM EDT

That is, if you like old CoF. Like Dusk and her Embrace old. I'm working on a cover at the moment and thus far it's sounding rather awesome. I just need to find that wicked wolf howl (hint hint) for the intro.

More to come, har har.

here's some news

Posted by LaForge Apr. 16, 2009 @ 9:44 PM EDT

I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. (not sure on the type yet.)

If you're unfamiliar with the disorder, a basic explaination is that your emotions swing wildly back and forth from what's called a "depressive state" to a "manic state", with anything in the middle (feeling normal) described as "mixed".

Apparently bipolar has been known to aid in creativity, as the experience of powerful and persuasive emotions can lead to great inspirations. I can personally attest to this phenomenon: I'm currently in a manic state of mind (it's nice to be able to say that with clinical corroboration) and earlier today I wrote an entire acoustic guitar piece in a few hours.

I'm currently recovering from a fractured bone in my fret hand, so I cannot play it, but it sounds georgeous in Guitar Pro 5.

I was put on a mood stabilizer the very next day after my diagnosis, and while I no longer reach the hilltops and trenches of emotion that I used to, I still feel despair and hopelessness often, and giddy exuberance just as often.

That's the news for me.

EDIT: 4/24/09, 11:27pm.

More fucking news.

So I've got this condition in my hands called "trigger finger", and believe me, it's not as cool as it sounds. Basically my fingers lock up when I open and close them. I had it corrected in my left hand (my fret hand), and it's now healing. Obviously I'm unable to play guitar in this condition, but I've still got the urge to make my ideas into music.

And so, I'm trying out classical. It's all very new to me, and exciting. My first track is out, just a piano piece, but it's a start.

Antidepressant Withdrawal

Posted by LaForge Aug. 16, 2008 @ 9:49 AM EDT

Okay, so I've been on this antidepressant known as Celexa for the better part of 2 years now, increasing the dosage regularly. But I'm starting to feel like I don't need the shit anymore, so recently I quit taking it, and tried taking myself off the drug cold turkey.

Big mistake. I feel fucking awful. I have electrical jolts running through my body. I have migraines. Everyone and everything pisses me off.

Here's the full list of withdrawal symptoms, none of which my doctor was kind enough to inform me of:

Anxiety
Dizziness
Fatigue
Headache
Insomnia
Tremors
Visual hallucinations
Diarrhea
Nausea
Vomiting
Restlessness
Blurred vision
Muscle and joint pain
Jolting electric "zaps"
Tingling sensations
Fever
Abdominal discomfort
Flu symptoms and general malaise
Anorexia, agitation
Vertigo
Gait disturbances
Sweating
Irritability
Aggression
Sleep disturbance and insomnia
Nightmares
Vivid dreams
Confusion
Memory and concentration difficulties
Chills and hot flashes
Crying spells
Suicidal thoughts
Lethargy
Weakness
Myalgia

The worst of all of those is the "Jolting electrical shocks." I'm getting them in my chest and arms, and they're pretty fucking severe and random. Every night I have nightmares, that is, when I can fall asleep.

The moral, don't take antidepressants, ever. You don't need them, and your doctor will try to keep you on them your entire fucking life.

So I've recently burned an NES emulator with nearly every game saved as ROM files to a CD. It can be played on a Playstation via the swap-disk method. I was feeling pretty proud about this, but I never really had any interest in actually playing any of the games.

Until I heard about lolomfgisuck's goal to beat every single NES game ever made. Since I now have access to them, and I'm a fucking gamer, I'll challenge (her?) to this.

Games I've Beaten

10 Yard Fight - 10:17pm, 7/25/08

1944 - 2:44am, 7/25/08 - Synopsis - Cool visuals for an NES game, and an awesome soundtrack. This game was fucking HARD.

1943 - 6:44pm, 7/25/08 - Synopsis - I skipped it at first and did the sequel, then came back to it. It's basically a downgraded version of 1944, with the most repetitive soundtrack of any game, ever ever ever.

27 Hours.

Posted by LaForge Jul. 23, 2008 @ 4:51 PM EDT

I've been awake for 27 hours and I'm still nowhere near tired. I only slept for like 6 hours the night before, I can't figure out why I'm so vitalized.

I haven't needed many cigarettes today, although I've binged on caffeine.

On a completely unrelated note, here's some beautiful street art to look at set to an awesome song by Disarmonia Mundi.
